The YSR Sampoorna Poshana Plus Scheme is a nutrition scheme introduced by the Government of Andhra Pradesh specifically for pregnant, lactating women, and children who belong to a vulnerable section of society. The scheme will help in improving the nutritional status of pregnant women. The scheme covers all pregnant women in the Andhra Pradesh state, including women from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Under this scheme, pregnant, lactating women and children are enrolled by Anganwadis. The Anganwadi Centres have given the responsibility to give nutritional food to all those women and children from BPL families.

The beneficiaries enrolled in 77 Scheduled & Tribal mandals will receive support from this scheme. To eliminate the issue of malnutrition among women and children, the state government decided to implement this scheme. Children between the ages of 6 months to 6 years will be getting nutritional food through this yojana. The scheme will prove beneficial to pregnant ladies, new mums, and infants. Through this yojana, the Andhra Pradesh government wants to support the tribal population of the state.

The scheme will help in solving the problem of Anaemia in pregnant women and lactating mothers in the state. The nutrition diet will also be given to the children belonging to the tribal population of the state.

  • An applicant should be a permanent citizen of Andhra Pradesh state.
  • Both pregnant women and lactating mothers can take benefits from the scheme.
  • The infants, children between the ages of 6 to 36 months and 36 to 72 months enrolled in Anganwadi are permitted to take advantage of the scheme.
  • The applicant should belong to the BPL/ Backward category and a low-income group of the state.

Enrollment Procedure for YSR Sampoorna Poshana Plus Scheme

The Anganwadi Centres have been given the responsibility of identifying and registering individuals. The Anganwadi employee does the registration and gathers all the data like the detail of children between 6 months to 6 years old, pregnant women information, and nursing mother data.

  • The health of the beneficiaries is monitored on a regular basis like the child’s height and weight are measured and pregnant women’s weight is also checked.
  • Common Registration Software (CAS) is used to store the collected data.
  • Pregnant women and lactating mothers should be suggested to take a healthy and proper diet.
  • The Anganwadi organization is responsible for delivering food and rations to the beneficiary’s house.
