Every year, the US government sets a cap on the number of H1B visas that can be issued. The US Congress has set an annual quota of 85,000 to issue new visas. As it is known that there is high demand for H1B visas, a lottery-style random selection procedure is used to select the applicants. This random selection process is called the H1B lottery. Last year, there were 484,000 registrations for the Visa. Any individual with appropriate skills and a minimum of a bachelor’s degree can apply for the Visa.
Procedure to Register for H1B Visa 2024 Electronically
- Firstly, you have to create a myUSCIC account to apply for registration.
- Then the applicant has to pay an amount of $10 that is non-refundable.
- You can use this link https://myaccount.uscis.gov/users/sign_up
- Individuals who are submitting their registrations have to use a “registrant” account.
- The representatives and registrants can enter the details of the beneficiaries from March 1 and after that, they have to pay a registration fee of $10 for each beneficiary.
- The Applicant can edit, prepare, and store information as draft through the account till the final payment is done.
- The account holders will be informed by the US government regarding the final selections by March 31.
- Individual who will get selected, have to submit their full H-1B petitions to the USCIS that must be finished in 90 days.

- Official name same as in the passport of the individual.
- Passport number of the H-1B beneficiary.
- Employer Identification Number of the sponsoring company

H1B Visa Fiscal Year 2024 Season
New H1B Visas will be issued according to the USCIS Fiscal Year (FY). The fiscal year of USCIS is not the same as a calendar year. The USCIS Fiscal Year’s starting and ending dates are not from January to December, it begins on October 1st, 2023, and ends on September 30th, 2024. H1B petitions for the next fiscal year 2024 are accepted 6 months before the start of the fiscal year. So, the petitions will be accepted from April 1st, 2023 for FY 2024 season.
H1B Visa Quota for FY 2024 – Masters and Regular Cap
For the H1B visa, there are two groups, the one is the regular quota and the second one is the master’s quota. There is a cap of 85000 on the number of H1B Visas that will be issued every year. Under H1B Regular Quota, 65,000 visas will be issued and 20,000 visas will be issued under H1B Master’s Quota.
